BIOGRAPHY
Andrea Berni was born in Florence in 1982 where he began his artistic training. Attracted by the world of sculpture, he moved to Carrara where he graduated in 2006 from the Academy of Fine Arts before opening his studio together with other artists - a place where not only he continues to enrich his artistic research by experimenting with traditional and contemporary techniques, but a place of cultural exchange that over the years has become one of Carrara's well-known art spaces. He has participated in exhibitions and sculpture symposiums in France, Norway, Lithuania, Lebanon and Germany; thanks to which he has had the opportunity to install public sculptures and establish deep friendships with artists from around the world.
In his continuous observation of the world and society that surrounds him, he concentrates on certain aspects which he expounds upon in the series “Indifferents”.
With this work he aims to underline the study of the most profound human sensations and emotions. Individuals submerged by stimuli that they do not understand, dissociated from life, in a state of profound and perennial indifference. Individuals made single, with stolen souls, apathetic, immobilized and prisoners. Deeply nihilistic, devoid of passions, strength and spirit.
Dull beings, defrauded by the passage of time, veiled in spirit by a profound resignation
He also turns his gaze to the nature that surrounds him and to the deep relationship it holds with human kind. This gives life to the “Natural Inspiration” series.
The beauty of nature, the simplicity of its lines and compositions.
The beauty of a ray of sunlight that strokes a surface making it luminous, warm.
Simple yet complex, in harmony and balance, full of shades of light and dark, often barely perceptible in their delicateness, yet at times strong and defined.
Softness and rigidity generate a continuous and natural desire for observation, a never-ending source of curiosity and emotions.
